Spectra Logic recently introduced a new Cube tape library, LumOS tape library management software, and a TFinity Plus version of its enterprise tape library, expanding its existing product lineup that includes the Stack entry-level, T950 mid-range, and ExaScale high-end enterprise systems. The Stack offers scalability from one 6RU module to seven, while the T950 scales from 50 to 10,250 LTO slots, and the ExaScale supports various tape formats across multiple frames.
Matt Ninesling, Spectra Logic’s senior director of tape portfolio management, highlighted the increasing interest in moving data to more cost-effective on-prem and hybrid cloud solutions due to rising public cloud storage costs. The new Cube tape library boasts a significant native capacity of up to 30 PB and supports various LTO tape formats, logical partitions, and dynamic scalability, positioning it as a cost-effective option for cold storage needs.
The Cube library can be seamlessly integrated with Spectra Logic’s LumOS management software, which offers enhanced features such as REST API for automation, capacity-on-demand expansion, encryption support, and proactive monitoring capabilities. LumOS is designed to optimize tape library operations, ensuring efficient data management and security.
In addition to the Cube library, Spectra Logic introduced the TFinity Plus model, which supports up to 168 drives and offers improved throughput compared to its predecessors. Existing TFinity or TFinity ExaScale libraries can be upgraded to support LumOS software, aligning them with the enhanced capabilities of the TFinity Plus enterprise library.
Spectra Logic’s Cube library is designed to address the evolving storage needs of organizations, offering a cost-effective and efficient solution for data management and protection. The company will showcase the Cube library at upcoming industry events, providing customers with an opportunity to explore its features and benefits firsthand.
With a focus on enhancing storage efficiency and performance, Spectra Logic continues to innovate in the tape library space, catering to the evolving demands of modern data storage environments. The introduction of the Cube library and LumOS software underscores the company’s commitment to delivering robust and scalable solutions that meet the diverse needs of its customers.
