The drivers built into Windows XP work fine to power your Imation FlashGO!™ device. We have posted on the Imation Web site new software that includes a formatting utility for flash media. There is also new firmware that is needed to use the formatting utility. This formatting utility applies to Windows XP, as well as Windows 98, ME and 2000. Here are a couple of suggestions if you experience problems using the Imation FlashGO! unit on Windows XP:
- Insert the flash media card and adapter (if needed) into the FlashGO! unit before inserting it into the USB port.
- Insert the FlashGO! unit directly into the computer's USB port, not into a hub.
- When you are ready to remove the flash media card, disconnect the device by using the icon (green arrow over a card) in your system tray (this is the same area where your computer time is located). Once it tells you that it is safe to disconnect the device, unplug the whole unit, remove the flash card, insert the next card and then replug the whole device again.
- In the Device Manager, the FlashGO! unit is detected and displayed under Disk Drives. It should be displayed as OEI-USB. Right click on the OEI-USB entry and choose Properties. Go to the Policy tab and click the top radio button, Optimise for Quick Removal, and click OK. This should improve performance.
